JLR designs and builds complete outdoor living spaces for homes across Oakland County, including Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Troy, Rochester and West Bloomfield. Outdoor kitchens, fire features, fireplaces and shade structures are built along with the patio underneath them, by the same crew, with the base preparation and drainage needed to handle Michigan freeze and thaw cycles.

Outdoor Fireplaces & Pizza Ovens
Full masonry outdoor fireplaces and wood fired pizza ovens, built on footings and finished in stone or veneer. A fireplace gives a patio a focal point, blocks wind from one side and doubles the usable season.

Kitchens, fire features and structures sit on the hardscape, so the hardscape gets built right first. We install brick paver and natural stone patios and pool decks with proper base preparation, drainage and edge restraint, then build up from there.

Common Questions
What is included in an outdoor kitchen?
That is up to you. A basic build is a stone base with a granite countertop and a built-in grill. From there you can add a sink, a mini-fridge, side burners, storage and bar seating. We size the kitchen to the space and to how you plan to use it.
Should I get a gas or a wood burning fire pit?
Both work. Gas lights with a switch and produces no smoke or ash, and it needs a gas line run to it. Wood costs less to install and gives you a real fire, and it means storing wood and cleaning out ash. We build either one.
Can you add this to a patio I already have?
Often, yes. We look at the existing patio, the base under it and where utilities would need to run, then tell you whether it makes sense to build onto it or to rebuild the area first.
Do you install the patio too, or only the structures?
Both. JLR is a design and build company, so the patio, the kitchen, the fire feature and the pergola are all installed by our own crew.
When should I book a spring project?
Over the winter. We schedule spring work early, and booking ahead of the rush gets you a better spot in the season.
