Walls do two jobs at once
On a property with any fall across it, a wall is what turns an awkward slope into two usable levels. Built properly it is engineered for the load it carries and drained behind the face, so water pressure has somewhere to go instead of pushing the wall out over time.
A seat wall is a different animal. It is not holding earth back, it is holding people up, built at sitting height around a patio or a fire feature. It seats more guests than chairs do and it never has to be stored for the winter.

Common Questions
Do you work on larger properties as well as in the village?
Yes. Village lots and multi-acre properties are both normal for us. On a larger property the drive is longer, there is more grade to deal with and drainage usually has to be handled on site rather than sent to a storm system, but the build method is the same.
What is the difference between a seat wall and a retaining wall?
A retaining wall holds earth back and is engineered for that load, with drainage behind the face. A seat wall holds nothing back. It is built at sitting height, usually around a patio or a fire pit, purely so people have somewhere to sit. They often appear on the same project and are built differently.
Do you build boulder walls?
Yes. Natural boulder walls suit wooded and rural properties where cut block would look out of place, and they handle grade changes the same way. The stone is placed individually rather than stacked to a pattern, so no two walls come out alike.
Can a patio be extended later without it looking patched?
It can, and the trick is planning for it now. If we know an extension is coming we set the layout and note the units so the addition reads as part of the original. Done cold years later with whatever is in stock, the seam usually shows.
